The BBC Music Magazine Awards celebrate the very best of the classical recording world, from ambitious symphony and opera releases to imaginative and intimate chamber and solo albums.
The winners of the BBC Music Magazine Awards 2020 were announced in mid-May 2020. It was presented in seven categories, with a list of 21 nominees compiled by a professional jury out of the 170 best recordings of the previous year (only recordings that received a five-star rating from one of the magazine’s critics could be included in the list). The chamber category winner of the BBC Music Magazine Award was ultimately decided by an audience vote.
Among the chamber music recordings, the record featuring Sándor Veress’s 1954 string trio and Béla Bartók’s 1903 piano quintet in C major, which was released under the auspices of Alpha Records, deserved recognition.
